COVID-19 has not on its own crushed the economy, but rather shown light on the past due realization of the worldwide scale poverty holds.
More and more people are beginning to see the overwhelming weight of poverty with almost 800 million people living in destitution and numbers rising due to COVID-19. This in turn affects the life expectancy for children and their lack of nourishment and supplies needed in order to survive.
Action needs to be taken which is why I urge Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Edward Markey to support the Global Health Security Act. This bill not only helps those in a state of extreme poverty, but will also benefit the world in preparing and preventing future pandemics that will tear our economy apart.
