Hello neighbor.
What is better than biting into a deliciously fresh, bright red strawberry picked at one of our local farms this time of year? The juice, sweet and plentiful, runs down your chin and the berry practically melts in your mouth. The aroma is recognizable the moment you encounter it. OK, I have to stop talking about them because I’m making myself hungry for shortcake.
The reason I bring this up is that you can typically find strawberry suppers happening in Franklin County at this time of year.
For instance, Montague Congregational Church in Montague Center is holding one on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. On the menu? Well, it will include baked stuffed chicken breast, gravy, rice, salad, a vegetable, breads, coffee, tea and milk — and let’s not forget the fresh strawberry shortcake.
The price is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Just call our neighbor Peg Bridges at 413-367-2184 for a reservation. Walk-ins will be seated as space allows. You can always call for take-out.
Enjoy!
