BERNARDSTON — State Police arrested two Springfield residents on charges of trafficking cocaine after stopping them on Interstate 91 for speeding Thursday night.

The two individuals had a combined 27 grams of crack cocaine, $1,930 of cash and seven orange pills, a controlled substance similar to Adderall.

Shawndell Collins, 37, the driver, was charged with trafficking in cocaine, fugitive from justice, operating with a revoked license, providing a false name to a police officer, speeding and marked lanes violation.

Jeremy Garcia, 20, the passenger, was charged with trafficking in coacaine, possession of a Class E drug, conspiracy to violate drug laws and tampering with an official record.

Police stopped a Ford Fusion that was reported to have been going 70 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Collins gave a false name and date of birth at first, according to police.

Bail for Garcia was set at $7,500 and Collins was held without bail.

They were arraigned in Greenfield District Court Friday, where they plead not guilty.
