Generosity abounds

Every Monday evening I coordinate Second Helpings, a free dinner hosted by St. James Episcopal Church and made possible by generous year-round food donations and volunteer support from Deerfield Academy. It is wonderful to see how the entire community is getting into the act. In the past few years, there have been Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops as well as the youth group from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church coming to volunteer.

Most recently, Foster’s Supermarket has been donating, once a month, enough ice cream to feed 100 people, and Karen Muszynski, who picks up the ice cream from Foster’s and brings it to us, has also on occasion donated the same amount of ice cream herself.

Greenfield is truly a wonderful place to live, thanks to exceptionally compassionate individuals and civic-minded businesses like Foster’s. Thank you!
