GREENFIELD — One person was injured in a rollover crash on Mill Street Sunday afternoon.
Police and fire crews were called to the crash scene around approximately 3:15 p.m when a black Jeep Cherokee flipped over onto its roof.
Patrolman Justin Purinton was not certain of the cause of the crash, but said the vehicle left the roadway, hit the curb and hit a utility pole before rolling over.
Turners Falls EMTs treated the driver, the only occupant of the car, on a stretcher next to the crash site. The person was taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center around 3:30 p.m.
Police and fire vehicles blocked off Mill Street to make room for EMTs as well as a tow truck.
A nearby resident said she heard a loud boom as the power flickered and wondered if a bomb had gone off. A small crowd formed on a lawn in front of the crash site.
Car debris, including the front driver’s side tire, littered the pavement as crews worked quickly to clear the scene. The utility pole was splintered but it is unclear whether houses lost electricity for an extended amount of time.
