Jonny Scagel did it all for Yankee Candle Tuesday night.

Scagel struck out six batters in three innings on the mound to earn the win, and he added two hits and a run at the plate to lift his team to a 10-5 win over Easthampton Savings Bank in a Frontier Cal Ripken League youth baseball game in Hadley.

Claire Kirkendall scored two runs in the win for Yankee Candle, while Matthew Scagel and Shawn Baumann each had two hits and two RBI. Dylan Camp singled in a run and scored one, and Mason Thornton smacked two hits to go with two RBI and two runs.

Thornton struck out two batters in an inning, and Margaret Edwards recorded four strikeouts in two innings of action.

Mohawk Youth

Rosco Palmer totaled five RBI and Ty Griswold belted a home run to lift the Buckland/Shelburne Brewers to a 17-2 win over the Charlemont Royals in a Mohawk Youth League Majors Division baseball game Tuesday night.

Nathan Wiles had three RBI in the win for the Brewers, while Weston Denouden added an RBI.

Jacob Martin drove in both runs for the Royals.

• In Minors Division action, Levi Clark totaled three hits and two RBI and Jayden Dufresne had a hit and an RBI as Ashfield beat Rowe, 16-3, Tuesday night.

Evan Hoffner struck out four and didn’t allow a hit on the mound.

Hudson Clark hit a double for Rowe, while Brayden Brisson had a strikeout and Naomi Denouden paced the defensive effort.

• Elsewhere, Cole Cross hit for the cycle and the Buckland/Shelburne Braves knocked off Charlemont, 22-14.

Malcolm Briggs registered a home run.

Youth softball

GGSL

Alysia Knapp recorded 13 strikeouts to pick up the victory, leading her Pipione’s Sport Shop to an 8-5 win over the Diamond Dusters in a Greenfield Girls’ Softball League Ponytail Division contest Tuesday at Murphy Park.

Margarette Howland tripled and drove in three runs for Pipione’s, while Shelby O’Leary totaled two hits and an RBI. Josalyn Eastman drove in two runs. Mackenzie Clark added an RBI.

For the Dusters, Holly Myers had a hit and drove in a pair, while Ella Kolodziej and Taylor Greene each had a hit and an RBI. Micki Klemptner added a hit, and Madison Liimatainen struck out nine in the circle.

• Elsewhere, MacKenzie Paulin turned in the performance of the night in leading Crocker Communications to a 19-0 win over Conte Office Interiors on Tuesday.

Paulin struck out 12 batters and didn’t allow a hit in powering Crocker to the shutout win. At the plate, Paulin, Rachel Wood and Taylor Menard all hits with an RBI. Kelly Baird and Amelia Pierce each had a hit.

Conte’s Stella Verlander and Ya-Ya Noeun pitched well in defeat.

• In Lil Nippers action, Ella Rotkiewicz had three hits and Sophia Surage added two hits to lift Gilmore & Farrell Insurance to a 7-1 win over Harper’s Store. Angelina Kampuries played well defensively while adding a hit for Harper’s.

Lauren Helie, Lucja Yagodzinski, Alexa Minckler and Sarah McCloud had three hits apiece for Gilmore & Farrell.

Tri-County League

Ellis Benitez struck out 13 batters as the winning pitcher and totaled three singles as the Bernardston-Northfield Cougars edged Vernon, 12-9, in Tri-County League youth softball action Tuesday night at Pratt Field in Bernardston.

Kalyn Barry, Emily Canon and Kathie Fuller all singled, and Elena Witherell doubled and drove in a pair of runs for Bernardston-Northfield.

Vernon was led by Kailie LaFlamm’s home run and five RBI, while Lily Girard struck out five in three innings.

• In other action, Kayla Gauthier doubled and singled, and Georgia Harris-Hendry doubled to help the Erving Eagles to an 18-5 win over Brattleboro Purple in Erving.

Hailey Haughey singled for Brattleboro.

Adult softball

Greenfield Co-Rec

Wally Gagne’s 5-for-5 night with two home runs and two doubles launched RG Penfield Contruction to a 28-8 win over Riff’s North in a Greenfield Co-Rec Adult Softball League contest Tuesday night at Greenfield Middle School.

Jeremy Benz was also 5-for-5 with three doubles for RG Penfield, while Angelica Perfido was 3-for-4 hitting a home run and a double.

Brian Sicard smashed two long home runs for Riff’s North as part of a 4-for-4 night. Katherine Scarbrough chipped in two hits.

Montague Co-Rec

Jay Avery and Mark Kosloski combined for seven hits, seven runs and both hit home runs as Turners Falls Pizza House clubbed Johnson Controls, 24-9, in opening night action of the Montague Co-Rec Adult Softball League Monday at Unity Park No. 2.

Molly Wickline was 4-for-5 with two runs scored in the victory for Turners Falls Pizza House.

Jake Benedict finished 3-for-3 with a home run and three runs scored for Johnson Controls. Brad Bennett added three hits and two runs scored.

• In other Montague co-rec play Monday, Matt Kimball was 5-for-6 with a home run and five RBI as Fairview Landscape defeated Bob’s Oil Burner Service, 24-9.

Derrick Rawson slashed five hits, including a home run and a triple with four RBI, and Ainslee Penfield tossed in five hits, including a triple, to go with three RBI.

Jonny Rosario laced a home run as one of three hits and three RBI for Bob’s Oil. Sara Taylor was 3-for-5 with two RBI.

CCG Ladies

Teresa Varner’s 78 was good enough for low-gross honors at Tuesday’s Country Club of Greenfield Ladies League, as the 18-hole Division held a Criers Tournament — substitute par for your two worst holes on the front nine and two holes on the back nine.

Margo Worden took low-net honors with a 62.

Anne Echeverria had the low gross in the Second Division with a 91, and Deb Deskavich was the net winner with a 65.

Matt’s Men’s League

Matt Betsold fired a low gross total of 40 as Matt’s Men’s League kicked off the 2018 season Tuesday at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club in Turners Falls.

Jeff Miller totaled the low net with a 31. Betsold was closest to the pin on No. 7, landing his shot 15 feet, 2 inches away. Ken Adams was closest on No. 9 (14-2).

Wayne DeGrenier and Andy Wyngowski as well as Mark Letourneau and Al Ghiz amassed the most points in Week 1 with 5½.

Monday Night Ladies

Sue O’Connor shot a 41 to win low gross in the A Division during the Monday Night Ladies League at the Country Club of Greenfield.

Donna Covey won low net in the division with a 36.

Staci Hickey took low gross in the B Division with a 49, while T.C. Emerson won low net with a 38. Nancy Conant won the C Division gross with a 59, and Lynn Currier won low net with a 37.

Mark K. Memorial

John Boguslawski, Glen Rathburn, Dave Wiles and Linda Morey won a match of cards after firing a 61 to lead the way at the Mark K. Memorial Mixed League Monday night at Oak Ridge Golf Club.

The team of Derek LaCoy, Andy Phillips, John Mackin, Tim Lang and Andrew Easton settled for second place after totaling an identical 61.

Baseball

Deerfield Academy evened its season record at 6-6 with a 4-3 win over Northfield Mount Hermon School in a prep baseball game Monday afternoon in Deerfield.

Softball

Deerfield defeated NMH, 7-3, in a prep softball game Monday in Deerfield.

The Big Green is now 7-2 on the season.

Lacrosse

Deerfield moved to 10-1 on the season with a 13-0 win over NMH in a boys’ prep lacrosse match Monday in Northfield.

Tennis

The Deerfield boys’ and girls’ tennis teams each celebrated shutout wins on Monday.

The boys’ tennis team went to Northampton and defeated Williston Northampton School, 7-0, while the girls’ team hosted NMH and earned a 9-0 win.

Miscellany

Greenfield’s Danielson honored

Greenfield native Tara (Jelley) Danielson is one of four people selected for induction into the 2018 Bay State Games’ Hall of Fame. All four inductees will receive their award at a pre-game ceremony at Fenway Park on June 6 prior to the Red Sox game versus Detroit.

Danielson competed in Bay State Games field hockey and led her GHS squad to a state championship before embarking on a four-year career and eventual team captainship at UMass.

From 1998-2005, Danielson was a member of the U.S. National field hockey team that competed in the Pan American Games, World Cup and Olympic qualifiers. Following coaching stops at Boston College, Connecticut and Sacred Heart, she was named Head Coach at Stanford University in California in 2010. She has qualified for the NCAA tournament in seven of her eight years at Stanford.

The Bay State Games Hall of Fame was created to recognize past participants who have gone on to prestigious and successful athletic careers, as well as former and current coaches, officials, sports organizers, and volunteers who have made significant contributions to the organization throughout its 37-year history.

The rest of the Class of 2018 includes 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist Swimmer Samantha Livingstone and longtime Weightlifting Competition Co-Directors Denis Reno and David Lussier.

Road racing

Loaves and Fishes race

The second annual Loaves and Fishes 3.5-mile Road Race will be held June 9.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. for the race at Northfield Town Hall (69 Main Street). The walk begins at 8:30 and the road race will take off at 9.

Tumbling Tigers

The Greenfield YMCA Tumbling Tigers competed at the Westfield YMCA over the weekend in preparation for the 2018 YMCA Northeast Regionals.

Here are the results:

Level 8: Zenani Himlin-Mayekiso won floor (8.85), vault (9.25), all-around (33.7). Kendall Fox placed second on floor (8.6), vault (8.0).

Level 7: Allyson Unaitis won beam (7.8), placed second on vault (9.15) and all-around (33.25). Addie Broady took second on beam (7.6), bars (8.4) and floor (8.5).

Level 6: Lindsey Taylor placed second on bars (7.8), floor (8.75), all-around (33.45). Josie Cloutier placed second on beam (8.7) and vault (8.8).

Xcel Diamond: Emily Braverman won her division with an all-around score of 33.15

Xcel Gold/Sr.: Aneesa Brewer placed third on floor. Junior Division: Aiden Wall won bars (9.0), placed second on beam (8.7), floor (8.75), vault (8.05) and all-around (34.50). Cassie Cloutier placed second on bars (8.3).

Xcel Silver: Mila Frantz won bars (9.45), floor (9.3), vault (9.5) and all-around (37.45), placed second on beam (9.2). Juliette Potee took third on beam and floor.

Xcel Bronze: Genevieve Bird won bars (9.0), placed second on beam (8.7), floor (8.35), vault (9.1), and all-around (35.15).

Level 3/Jr.: Ava Garappolo won beam (9.1), placed second on floor (8.5) and took third on all-around.

Child Division: Seneca Smith won floor (9.15), all-around (36.30), placed second on beam (8.9) and vault (9.75). Lydia MacMunn-Seaman won bars (8.8), placed second all-around (35.35) and was third on vault.
