COLRAIN —The 1835-built Brick Meeting House is still a restoration work-in-progress, but the owners are hosting a first event — an outdoor Octoberfest — Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of the historic building, at 1 Jacksonville Road.
Brenda Parker LeDuc and her sister, Karen “Cookie” Parker, bought the building in 2015 and are hoping to eventually lease the building for a restaurant, general store or shops after the renovations are complete.
The event will feature Massachusetts and Vermont brews, food, music, children’s games and local arts and crafts. Attendees can sample sparkling fruit wines from Vermont-based Putney Mountain Winery, Sam Adams Octoberfest beer, and Angry Orchard hard cider from Connecticut. Food will include burgers, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, and bake-sale goods.
There will be crafts and artwork from several Colrain artists, antiques, tag sales and live music. For children, there is pumpkin- and face-painting, arts and crafts.
In case of rain, the event will be held on Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 9.
