To the DNC: With the American voters coming together and saying “enough” to this
administration, we have a moment of inflection, and the opportunity to do the right thing.

My first wish is that the Democratic National Committee take a step back during the next two years and keep their fingers off the scale. As the leaders of the political party that named themselves after the literal word democracy, I implore that they allow the electorate to choose their candidates for the coming presidential election.

Ten years ago they pushed their candidate, Hillary Clinton, to the forefront, thinking she
had a better chance of winning against Donald Trump, and it predictably backfired on all of us. They did it again six years ago with Joe Biden. Left alone, the outcomes would have surely been different, and in my view, probably better.

My second wish is that the new Congress will focus laser-like on the issues people voted on: the war with Iran, and fixing the economy. I would also throw in backing away from Russia and building up a coalition of support for Ukraine, and reinvigorating the transition away from an oil economy, which is the source of our current economic woes.

Sure, have Congress investigate corruption in the administration and how our president was able to grow his wealth by over $2 billion in just two years and all the deals his “envoys” have been making, but please, please, please don’t make this another circus. Focus on what matters to families across the country.

The next two years should also be a time of reconciliation with the MAGA movement. Let’s not demonize our fellow Americans for their choices, which for the most part were economic. Work with the reasonable Republicans left to right the ship and set a course for liberty, justice, and prosperity for all.

Let’s not fritter away this golden opportunity.
