Beyon Buck

Northampton, MA – Beyon (Falcone) Buck, age 95, formerly of Shelburne Falls and Ashfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, at Linda Manor in Northampton.

She was born on September 19, 1931, in the Bronx, New York, the daughter of Margherita and Vincenzo Falcone and the second child in a large Italian family. She always said she could see Yankee Stadium from her house. She went on to graduate from cosmetology school and became a hairdresser.

In 1955, she married her lifelong love, Charles Buck, with whom she shared more than 57 wonderful years until his death in 2013. They settled in Amherst, Massachusetts, while Charlie finished University and eventually made their way to Ashfield, where they lived for more than 40 years. Together, they built a loving home and raised four children. Beyon devoted her life to her family, making sure that her children never came home to an empty house. After their children were raised, Charles and Beyon travelled near and far, from their grandchildren’s sports competitions to many foreign countries.

Over her 95 years, Beyon was known for her wonderful cooking and her many talents as a seamstress and knitter. She had a passion for making braided rugs, knitting “bells” for the Christmas tree, crocheting blankets, and baking wonderful cookies, banana bread, and fruit cakes. She loved making things with her hands, and her family has many handmade treasures to remember her by.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her older sister, Lucy; her younger brother, Jimmy; her infant sister, Doris; and her beloved husband, Charles Buck.

She is survived by her younger sister, Margie, and her younger brother, Danny. She is also survived by her children, Debbie (Paul) Denton, Laura (David) Blakesley, Bill (Lisa) Buck, and Phil (Kim) Buck, as well as her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth. She leaves behind nine grandchildren: Christine (Tricia), Erin (Chris), Lynn (Rob), Allyssa (Kaela), Tory (Jill), Emily (Tom), Matthew (Marisa), Mark (Nayeli), and Jeffrey (Melissa), as well as numerous great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Beyon will be buried at a private ceremony at Ashfield Plain Cemetery, beside her beloved husband, Charles.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory either to the Shelburne Falls Senior Center, 7 Main Street, Shelburne Falls, MA 01370, where she spent many happy hours with friends, both with Charlie and on her own after his death, or to the Lathrop Home Resident’s Activity Fund at 215 South Street, Northampton MA 01060.

Our family would like to thank the Lathrop Home for six years of loving care, and Linda Manor and hospice for helping her through her final days.
