12:34 p.m. — Passerby noticed the front door to an address on Millers Falls Road looks like it was kicked in. Damaged door frame. Officer advising the front door is broken but there is a padlock on it. However, the back door is open. Requesting backup to make entry. No one is inside the building. Unable to determine if anything is missing. Photos taken.
3:45 p.m. — Reporting party on Millers Falls Road states she and her family just bought the property, and the front door is smashed and the back door is wide open. See prior call. Officer spoke to the property owners and will be submitting a statement about items taken. Owner was last at the building at 7 p.m. the day before.
10:02 p.m. — Walk-in to the station reports she has a baby owl in her car that she picked up on the side of the road. Reporting party was advised that police do not have the resources to care for an owl and they could try calling the Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH) to see if they are aware of other resources.
Tuesday, June 23
2:42 p.m. — Department of Public Works advising a female party has been yelling at vehicles, took off her clothing and is now walking up Route 63. Officer advising the female party is dressed at this time. Female party was transported to her residence.
6:10 p.m. — Caller states that about 10 minutes ago, she witnessed someone steal hot dogs from the Montague Village Store on Main Street. Caller states the involved female party and others are at a residence on West Street. Officers en route. Spoke with the homeowner, who advised the female party left yesterday and has not been back.
Wednesday, June 24
12:31 a.m. — Greenfield Police Department received a call about a tractor-trailer unit stuck at the Unity Street corner. Truck was found to be making a delivery and was not stuck.
12:42 p.m. — Two-vehicle crash at Seventh and K streets. No smoke, fluids or injuries. Minor front-end damage. Tow requested.
Thursday, June 25
8:13 p.m. — Caller on Turnpike Road advises his neighbor is currently firing a gun from the back of his house. Reporting party advises he resides in the back of the woods, near where bullets are being shot. Officer advises the involved male party was shooting at a bear on his property.
10:07 p.m. — Shelburne Control Dispatch Center took a call from a passerby reporting a male party is sitting on the Turners Falls-Gill Bridge rocking back and forth. Does not have shoes on. Massachusetts State Police were headed to a call in Buckland but will be advised. No one working in Gill. Mental health clinician from Clinical & Support Options requested. Officer advising the involved male and police relocated to the benches in front of Town Hall. Clinician arrived, gathering additional information. Ambulance requested.
Friday, June 26
11:01 a.m. — Montague Center Library employee reporting a hypodermic needle on the ground near a fire hydrant on the common. Item located and retrieved.
7:55 p.m. — Reporting party at the train tracks on East Main Street states there has been an active signal for the past 15 to 20 minutes, but no train. Reporting party states there is a line of vehicles forming. Pan Am contacted. Possible malfunction. Pan Am will contact a technician to resolve the problem.
8:09 p.m. — Caller advises a handful of people are swimming near Canal Street and appear to be struggling due to the current. Appears to be two adults with younger boys. While gathering information, the reporting party advises the younger male made it across the river with help from an adult. Multiple people reported to be on a rock in the middle of the water. Officer requesting FirstLight Hydro Generating Co. be contacted to close the dam. Best access point will be near the Great Falls Discovery Center bridge. Officer advising all people are clear of the rocks and unharmed.
Saturday, June 27
10:46 p.m. — Report of very loud music on Ripley Road. Area checked, no exterior noise heard.
Sunday, June 28
8:21 a.m. — Report of a male party at Aubuchon Hardware on Avenue A parked in front of the blue bins in the parking lot slumped over. Involved male party is homeless, was sleeping in his car. Male party was moved along.
Monday, June 29
4:21 p.m. — Caller states an intoxicated party left their electric bike inside Ce Ce’s Chinese Restaurant on Avenue A and now two different people are there trying to take the bike. Requesting officers. Officer advising the male party took ownership of the bike as he had a key for it.
Tuesday, June 30
2:09 p.m. — Reporting party from Grove Street states she received a call from Homeland Security that an imported package was seized at the border and her information was needed to process and continue the delivery. Reporting party states she did not give any personal information but asked further questions to identify who was calling. Reporting party states the caller hung up after she refused to provide information, and when she called the number back, the call could not be completed. Would like it on record.
5:53 p.m. — Caller at Sandy Lane reports seeing three people on dirt bikes that are cutting in and out of traffic and operating in an unsafe manner. Reporting party states she could not see a license plate on any of the bikes. Officer checked the area. No bikes observed or heard. Animal control officer called to advise she has seen the dirt bikes, often in the area of the high-tension power lines, jumping dunes.
6:27 p.m. — Caller reports roughly eight teenagers are climbing all over the equipment inside the laundromat on Third Street and causing a ruckus. Officer advises the individuals left prior to his arrival. Neighbor advises they headed toward Avenue A. Officer advising nothing inside the building appears to be disturbed or damaged.
Wednesday, July 1
12:15 p.m. — Reporting party in the area of the bike path on Greenfield Road states someone came to the camp he set up in the woods and vandalized some items. He does not know who may have done it, but he plans to move his campsite to Greenfield.
Thursday, July 2
8:47 a.m. — Report of wires down and on fire on Old Sunderland Road. Officer advises the fire is located on Falls Farm property. Officer states there is a gate blocking access. Attempting to find entry.
Friday, July 3
1:45 p.m. — Large tree down on Taylor Hill Road, blocking the road. Some wires down as well. Eversource notified and responding. Department of Public Works cleaned up the tree.
10:24 p.m. — Report of a fire in the dumpster in a parking lot on Avenue A. Transferred to the Shelburne Control Dispatch Center. One of the residents reporting they used a fire extinguisher. Heavy smoke, no flames. Turners Falls Fire Department taking over.
Saturday, July 4
10:49 a.m. — Employee at Family Dollar on Avenue A reporting a female party stole a bunch of items and is now walking south on Avenue A toward Greenfield Savings Bank. Employee is filling out a statement and pulling up video footage. Will call when everything is ready. Police checking the area for the involved female.
Sunday, July 5
7:09 a.m. — Report of a fallen tree that took down wires on Route 47. Phone lines involved. Department of Public Works contacted for tree removal. Eversource contacted and responding as well. Tree and wires clear.
10:36 p.m. — Water main break on Third Street. Turners Falls Water Department contacted. Officer advising he shut down the Canal Street side of the roadway. Officer advising the roadway is starting to buckle. Third Street shut down from Avenue A to Canal Street. Roadway later reopened.
