I love living in Massachusetts. I’ve lived here almost my whole life. I have roots here, and all of my friends and family are here. But the cost of living is making it increasingly difficult for many people to make ends meet and stay here.
Taxes, energy, food, education, healthcare, and housing are becoming more and more unaffordable. This makes it challenging for hardworking, middle-class residents to save money and get ahead.
Our young people, especially, are being handed a difficult environment in which to thrive. Those just entering the workforce are facing a cost of living that makes it nearly impossible to save money and get ahead. As a result, homeownership is becoming increasingly out of reach for many.
Mike Minogue has made full and transparent audits, along with reducing the cost of living, a central part of his vision for our state. His commitment to making Massachusetts more affordable by lowering taxes and reducing energy and housing costs is exactly what is on the minds of people across the commonwealth, regardless of their political beliefs.
If the cost of living doesn’t improve, even more of our talented residents and businesses will move to states where life is more affordable. That will hurt innovation, slow economic growth, and make it harder for Massachusetts to compete. This crisis requires strong, business-minded leadership that can deliver for the hardworking and innovative people of Massachusetts.
