July 4: Readers’ theater-style play at Deerfield church

DEERFIELD — “Revolution in the Valley: A Tale of Two Towns” will be coming to the First Church of Deerfield at 71 Old Main St. on Saturday, July 4, at 2 p.m.

The readers’ theater-style play will focus on the years of the American Revolution in Deerfield and Greenfield, with a cast of 15 actors embodying either historians or figures from 1775 to 1808. To set the scene, flutes and fiddles will play tunes from the time period.

Admission is free, but the church welcomes donations.

July 11: Brazilian music performance coming to library

CONWAY — Brazilian music group BR413 will stop by the Field Memorial Library on Saturday, July 11, at 3 p.m. to celebrate the library’s 125th birthday.

Singer Flavia Terra, guitarist and vocalist Luiz Alexandre, and bassist Mark Sims will perform arrangements of Brazilian classics, including samba, bossa nova, baião and xote. Conway native Gisèle Litalien will join to sing jazz, and French and Brazilian melodies.

A jazz pianist, vocalist and guitarist, Litalien has performed in festivals and venues across Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

The free program will take place either inside or outside the library depending on the weather. The library will provide refreshments, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
