GREENFIELD — A Turners Falls man was sentenced Tuesday to five to six years in state prison on drug and unlawful firearm possession charges, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.

Jacob Sisson, 26, was sentenced by Judge David Hodge in Franklin County Superior Court. Sisson pleaded guilty to single counts of possession with the intent to distribute a Class A substance (fentanyl, subsequent offense); conspiracy to violate drug law; unlawful possession of a firearm as a Level 1 armed career criminal; unlawful possession of ammunition as a Level 1 armed career criminal; and resisting arrest.

The case stemmed from a December 2024 investigation conducted by the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office Anti-Crime Task Force. Detective Timothy Cooley from the task force and Greenfield Police conducted surveillance of Sisson and his vehicle. This led to a traffic stop after Sisson engaged in suspected drug activity, according to the DA’s office.

During the investigation, Sisson, who was driving, attempted to flee. According to the DA’s office, police were able to stop Sisson, who resisted arrest before being handcuffed.

A search of Sisson’s person revealed a handgun, ammunition and approximately 120 bags of fentanyl. The vehicle was searched and about 590 additional bags of fentanyl were found. Sisson did not have a license to carry a firearm and was arrested.

The sentence was jointly recommended by the state and defense attorney Nora Leovich. Assistant District Attorney Aidan Lanciani prosecuted the case on behalf of the state.

“This case demonstrates the importance of proactive investigations targeting repeat offenders, illegal firearms and dangerous narcotics,” Lanciani said in a statement. “I commend the Anti-Crime Task Force for their dedication and professionalism throughout this investigation, which helped bring this case to a successful resolution.”
