Reggie Harris to perform at All Souls Church

Reggie Harris, a singer, songwriter, storyteller and cultural ambassador known for his ability to inspire hope and create opportunities for building community and positive change, will perform at All Souls Church, 399 Main St. in Greenfield, on Saturday, June 13. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will start at 7 p.m.

The event serves as a fundraiser for All Souls Church. There is a $15 to $30 charge at the door, though no one will be turned away.

Celebrate World Wide Knit in Public Day on June 13

The Greenfield Public Library will have two events to celebrate World Wide Knit in Public Day on Saturday, June 13, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Residents can also attend the Library Pop-up at the Franklin County Pride Festival at Energy Park from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

Bring knitting needles, a project and a lawn chair, and set up on library’s front patio to join other knitters in this worldwide annual event. In the event of inclement weather, participants can move indoors to the Periodicals Lounge on the first floor. The program is intended for ages 12 and up.

Fabric of Life to host a Tamburitza Orchestra play-and-sing-along workshop June 20

Fabric of Life will host a Tamburitza Orchestra play-and-sing-along workshop on Saturday, June 20 at 2 p.m. at 80 Bassett Road in Shelburne. Led by Boston-based band Pajdashi and the Tamburitza Troubadors, the event features separate afternoon sessions for singers and string or accordion players, followed by a joint review and dinner. Listeners and dancers are welcome to join after dinner, with workshop tickets priced from $20 to $40 and evening event tickets from $5 to $15. Author Allen Lang featured in debut episode of ‘LAVA Talks’

The LAVA Center, Dog Hollow Press and Valley Eye Radio have partnered to record the pilot episode of “LAVA Talks” in front of a live studio audience on Wednesday, June 17 at 324 Main St. in Greenfield. The broadcast will feature a dramatic reading of “I, Gardener,” a classic 1959 science fiction story by author Allen Lang that explores remarkably timely themes surrounding artificial intelligence, creator ethics and the definition of humanity. Produced by Lang’s stepdaughter Jan Maher, the live performance stars regional actors Chip Roughton and Nathan Michael Turowsky. Studio audience doors open at 6:15 p.m. and close promptly at 6:45 p.m. for a brief recording orientation. Due to strict audio requirements, late seating is absolutely prohibited. Admission to the recording session is free, though donations are gratefully accepted to support the production. Learn to make a linocut design at the library

Join local artist Danielle Lucier on Thursday, June 18 at 2 p.m. at the Greenfield Public Library and learn how to make a linocut design based on a favorite local landmark, business or icon and print it into a custom fabric patch or print. All materials will be provided and all skill levels are welcome.

The LAVA Center in Greenfield will host D. Barrett’s mixed-media art exhibition, “Chaos on a Plate presents The Rainbow Arc — Phase 1: Violet,” throughout June and July. The conceptual installation features layered, textured canvases marking the first color phase of a larger 63-canvas project rooted in “Chaosism.” An opening reception with the artist will take place on Saturday, June 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 324 Main St. in Greenfield.

In other LAVA Center related news, a special Film Night will take place on Thursday, June 11 at 6 p.m., featuring a screening of “Of Moths And Men” by local filmmaker Daniel Hales. Written, directed by and starring Hales alongside the late Brion Dulac, the independent film is an absurdist film noir and existential comedy that represents a cinematic labor of love thirty years in the making. The plot follows two small-time con men who become increasingly paranoid while hiding out for 27 years waiting for a mysterious client after a break-in.
