In case you didn’t notice, Old Glory is once again lining Main, Federal, and Deerfield streets along with Bank Row in Greenfield just in time for Memorial Day.
The flags are new as well as some of the hardware and staves due to the generous donations “we” received in the fall from local companies and a few individuals whom we thanked in this periodical at that time.
We, being the Freemasons of Republican Lodge AF & AM, the so-called, “Quiet Fraternity,” have maintained this display for well over a decade for this, our community since 1795.
The flags will remain on display until after Independence Day. After which they will be taken down as summer storms wreak havoc on them, and they will go up again before Labor Day and down again after Veterans Day. Then, during the winter months, we will do maintenance on them and repeat the process next year.
If you wish to help support this endeavor or know more about Freemasonry generally, or the Republican Lodge specifically, please feel to reach out to me at rkimgfld@gmail.com.
