The Pioneer Valley Interscholastic Athletic Conference released Western Mass. playoff brackets for all spring sports, except for boys lacrosse, on Friday. There are 14 teams from Franklin County represented in the upcoming tournaments.
There are seven Recorder area softball teams vying for a sectional championship. The Frontier Regional softball team drew the No. 2 seed in Class B. The Redhawks host No. 7 Easthampton on Monday at 4 p.m. The top seed in the Class B bracket is Hampshire Regional.
In the Class C softball bracket, fourth-seeded Franklin Tech is set to host No. 5 Mount Greylock on Saturday, May 16 at 3 p.m. Also in Class C, Greenfield is the third-seed and will host No. 6 Springfield International Charter School on Tuesday, May 19 at 4 p.m. No. 8 Mahar Regional faces a trip to the Berkshires to play top-seeded McCann Tech in the Class C bracket on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
The Class D bracket for softball has three representatives from Franklin County. Fourth-seeded Turners Falls will host No. 5 Hopkins Academy under the lights at Mullins Field on Monday, May 18 at 7 p.m. Pioneer Valley Regional is the sixth-seed and will travel to play No. 3 Granby on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. No. 7 Mohawk Trail has a date with No. 2 Monson on Monday at 4 p.m. Hoosac Valley is the top seed in the Class D softball bracket.
In baseball, there are six teams from Franklin County. Fourth-seeded Frontier Regional will play No. 5 Belchertown in Class B on Monday at 4:30 in South Deerfield. Pittsfield is the top seed in Class B for baseball
In Class C, Athol faces a daunting trip to play top-seeded Drury on Monday at 4:30 . No. 4 Franklin Tech hosts No. 5 Lenox on May 16 at 3 p.m. No. 2 Greenfield has a home game at Vets Field against seventh-seeded McCann Tech on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
In the Class D bracket, eighth-seeded Turners Falls faces a trip to Hadley to play No. 1 Hopkins Academy on Monday at 4 p.m. No. 5 Pioneer Valley Regional travels to No. 4 Monson on Monday.
In girls tennis, Frontier drew the top seed in Class B. The Redhawks face No. 4 Pioneer Valley Christian Academy. As of publication time, the date and time are to be determined. As of publication time, the volleyball brackets had yet to be announced.
