Greer, SC – Thomas J. “Tom” Sonn, 83, of Greer, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on April 11, 2026, with his wife Marilyn and loyal dog Ruby by his side.
Born on July 27, 1942, in Nashua, New Hampshire, Tom was the son of David A. Sonn of Milford, New Hampshire, and Christine M. (Fairfield) Sonn of Wilton, New Hampshire. During his youth, Tom was an active athlete, playing Little League baseball, YMCA baseball, and varsity football at Athol High School, where he graduated with the class of 1960. In 1974–1975, he provided engineering and technical assistance to the Greek Navy on sonar systems in Salamis, Greece.
After his naval career, Tom pursued further studies in electronics at the University of Rhode Island and later worked independently in engineering and technology. He also found a creative outlet in crafting McDermott pool cues, leaving behind a legacy cherished by billiards enthusiasts.
