Richard (Dick) St. Clair

Northfield, MA – Dick (Richard) Mosby St. Clair, 82, passed away on February 4, 2026 at his home in Northfield, MA. Dick had entered palliative care a few days prior, having recently declined further treatment for cancer.

Dick was a husband, father, traveler and artist. He was the epitome of a free spirit and graced his family and friends with a one-of-a-kind blend of creativity, irreverence and positivity. In his words, he lived a lifestyle many have only dreamed about. His guiding preference: make choices based on instinct; then keep it simple. He did the things that brought him joy and "got away with it". Dick also embraced spirituality, including beliefs that gave him peace and high spirits to the end.

Dick is survived by his wife Katherine (Kackie) Hand St. Clair, his two children Kate and Toby, and his brother Bill. He said most of the things he loved in life were brought about or made possible by Kackie to whom he was happily married for 56 years. Dick and Kackie raised their two children in a loving home in Pelham MA warmed by two wood stoves he tended carefully, several beloved dogs and a horse named Red. Dick cherished an eclectic variety of friendships along with the solitude and beauty of rural New England.

A memorial service is planned in late June, at the Deerfield Inn. Please contact tobadius84@gmail.com or visit https://everloved.com/life-of/richard-st-clair/obituary/ for more information.
