Northfield, MA – Helen Rogers, 96, of Northfield Mass passed on Friday April 3, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born Merch 8 , 1930 in Montague , Mass the daughter of Charles and Jennie ( Corey ) Hewitt. She spent her early years in Farley, MA, on a dairy farm, at age 15, she moved to Bernardston , MA and was a 1948 graduate of Powers Institute.
She married Robert Rogers on June 5 , 1965 in Greenfield, Mass. She worked many jobs before having children, to include Margolins, Rockdale, The Brattleboro Retreat and The Northfield Inn Hotel. She loved to garden and definitley had a green thumb, enjoying a yardful of flowers. She loved farm animals and feeding the birds.
She is survived by two daughters, Doris Lake ( John ) of Orange and Shirley Smith ( Everett ) of Montague, two sons, David ( Diane ) of Vernon , Vt and William of Northfield, a brother, Charles Hewitt of Greenfield and two sisters, Eleanor Farnham ( James ) of Greenfield and Esther Shea of North Adams. She leaves Grand Children, John Lake Jr, Jennie Lake, Julianne Strawn, Lisa Godfrey, Jonathan Crowningshield, Robert Rogers, Alexis Smith and ten Great Grand Children.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Robert ” Bucky ” Rogers, brothers Donald and George and a sister Marion Bassett.
There will be calling hours Sunday April 12, 2026 from 3:00 P.M. To 5:00 P.M. at the Kidder Funeral Home, 1 Parker Ave.Northfield, Mass. Funeral services will be Monday April 13, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at the Vernon Advent Christian Church, Ft. Bridgeman Rd. Vernon , Vt. Burial will follow at the West Northfield Cemetery. The Rev. Bruce Burks will officiate.
The family would like to thank everyone that visited, prayed or sent well wishes to our Mom. It meant so much to her, also many thanks to Life Path, Associated Home Care and the Fisher Home for their care and support. A very spaecial thanks to her caregiver Alyssa Alger who was willing to work seven days a week for her care and comfort.
