March 10: ‘King Philip’s War in Your Backyard’

NORTHFIELD — In 1676, European colonists and Indigenous residents engaged in violent conflicts in the area, including through the Great Falls Massacre that has been researched by the Battlefield Advisory Board over the past decade. On Tuesday, March 10, historian David Brule will present the findings and share the deeper story of the Great Falls Massacre during a program called “King Philip’s War in Your Backyard” at Dickinson Memorial Library from 6 to 7 p.m.

Brule is president of the Nolumbeka Project, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving Native American culture and history, and project coordinator for the Great Falls Massacre research initiative. The Battlefield Advisory Board’s work spans sites from Northfield to Greenfield, uncovering new insights about what transpired.

This program is funded in part by the Northfield Cultural Council.
