Northfield Mount Hermon once again swept the Mount Institute Ski League race on Wednesday at Berkshire East Ski Resort in Charlemont. It was a two-run giant slalom in superb race conditions on the mountain.
In the girls standings, Northfield Mount Hermon placed first with 328 points. Deerfield Academy finished second with 326 points. Bement School was third with 266 points.
Rowan Skinner of Deerfield Academy topped the leaderboard with a combined time of 84.01. Ellie Pinkham of Northfield Mount Hermon was second (86.18). Reese Schaefer of the Bement School placed third (86.93). Deerfield Academy’s Cecelia Cramer finished fourth (87.63). Kathryn Werner of Northfield Mount Hermon took fifth (88.06).
In the boys team standings, Northfield placed first with 337 points. Deerfield Academy (307) and Eaglebrook (246) were second and third, respectively. Sam Rotermund of Northfield Mount Hermon took first overall (78.94). Teammate Cody Vassar was second (80.42). Jackson Stram of Deerfield Academy placed third (81.66). Sumner Finley (83.73) and Porter Beaule (85.18), both of Northfield Mount Hermon, were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Boys basketball
Eagle Hill 50, Four Rivers 48 โ The Otter lost on the road on Wednesday. Cooper Whitney scored 20 points. Henry Schwerin added 10 points for the Otters.
Greenfield United
Registration for Greenfield Unitedโs spring season is now open. Greenfield United is a competitive travel soccer program for young soccer players in the Greenfield area. The season runs from April until June.
The league offers a beginner program for players ages 5-7, with one practice a week and no matches. For ages 8-14, teams practice twice a week and play one match a week. Deadline to register is Feb. 15.
