After a pair of Valley North wins, the Frontier Regional girls indoor track and field team won a league championship on Sunday in Northampton. The Redhawks beat Mahar 74-19 and took down South Hadley, 60-35, at Smith College.
Emmanuelle Flagolett highlighted the victories with an impressive performance in the 55-meter hurdles. She took first overall (9.29) and set a personal record in the process. Mahar Regional’s Stellina Moore took fourth overall (9.89) in the same event for the Senators.
Moore scored for the Senators and placed second overall in the high jump. Moore jumped five feet flat in the event. Moore set a personal record set a personal record in the long jump, finishing fourth overall (15-2.50).
Louise Flagolett ran a personal best in the 300, finishing third overall (43.52). Liv Christensen took fourth overall (6:08.99) in the mile, setting a personal record.
Madilyn Moore scored points for the Senators in the shot put, finishing fourth overall (26-00.50).
At the MSTCA Kalperis Relays at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, the Frontier 4×400 relay team placed fourth (4.22.47). The team consisting of Maddie Antes, Pheobe Radner, Emmanuelle Flagollet and Louise Flagollet set a new school record at the event. On Sunday, the team beat their own record again at Smith College, finishing second (4:19.87).
Hampshire Regional 79, Mohawk 7 — The Warriors couldn’t hang with the Raiders in a Valley North contest. Virginia Krezmien took fifth overall (3:27.22) in the 1,000 for the Warriors.
Pioneer 59, Commerce 6 — With a win over the Raiders, the Panthers captured the Valley South league championship and finished the season undefeated.
Harper Hake shined in the 2-mile for the Panthers. Hake finished first overall (12:48.00) and set a personal record in the event. The performance also set a school record. Hake also set a personal record in the 600 with an 11th place finish overall (2:01.45).
Eighth grader Addison Chapin set a personal record (13-2)in the long jump for the Panthers, placing 15th overall.
Amy VanDoren placed 16th (2:10.73, PR) in the 600 for the Panthers. VanDoren set more personal records (11.14) in the 55-hurdles and the long jump (11-0). Hannah Skorupa set personal record in the 600-meter (2:13.19) and the 55-hurdles (11.55)
Greenfield 76, Baystate Academy 1 — The Green Wave ended the regular season with a Valley South win.
Kyra Tamsin placed fourth overall in the 600 (1:57.17) for the Green Wave. Tamsin also took sixth overall (10.35) in the 55-hurdles, setting a personal record for the Green Wave.
Suhani Patel finished third overall (4-8) in the high jump.
Athol 43, Hampden Charter 24 — The Bears took down Hampden Charter in Valley South competition.
Emily Abram scored and took 17th overall (21-8) in the shot put for the Bears.
Boys track & field
Greenfield 85, no opponent — The Green Wave also secured a Valley South league championship in Northampton. Mason Youmell highlighted the day with a first place finish (1:28.73) in the 600. The performance was a personal record for Youmell.
Youmell also took first (8.29) in the 55-hurdles, setting another personal record in the process.
Alex Scotera captured also captured a top finish, placing first overall (11:11.78) in the 2-mile. Teammates Ryan Spofford (2:54.65) and Dylan Breiwick (2:56.59, PR) placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 1,000.
Kymel Ramsey took fourth (6.90) and set a personal record in the 55-meter for the Green Wave. Ramsey also took fifth (38.51) in the 300, setting another personal record.
Breiwick impressed (5:00.61) in the mile, finishing second overall.
Frontier 60, Mahar 30; South Hadley 58, Frontier 37 — Frontier split a pair of meets in Valley North competition.
Frontier’s Luke Howard (4:35.04) clipped Ethan Halpern of Longmeadow (4:35.11) in the mile. Howard’s run was good for first place overall and a personal record.
Adrien Pazmandy finished fifth overall (37.53) in the 300. Kai Fripp set a personal record in the 600, finishing sixth overall (1:36.53).
Ezra Rich finished fifth (40-03.75) in the shot put. Danny Quigley took eighth overall (38.37) in the 300 for the Senators.
Hampshire Regional 38, Mohawk 25 —The Warriors lost to the Raiders in Valley North competition.
Peter Healy took eighth overall (2:57.49) in the 1,000 for the Warriors. Healy also grabbed an eighth place finish (4:50.06) in the mile. Tanner Biagini placed ninth overall (38.43) in the 300.
Hampden Charter 49, Athol 16 — The Bears closed our their regular season with a Valley South loss. Elijah Etienne captured points for the Bears in the shot put, finishing 13th overall (32-5.25).
Commerce 34, Pioneer 5 — The undermanned Panthers took a loss to Commerce in Valley South competition. Carter Berthiaume won again in the high jump for the Panthers. Berthiaume’s jump was good for first overall (6-1).
