The first Mount Institute Ski League race commenced at Berkshire East Ski Resort on Wednesday. It was a two-run slalom in wet conditions in Charlemont.

The Northfield Mount Hermon (A) girls took first as a team with 337 points. Deerfield Academy (A) was second with 314 points. Deerfield Academy (B) was third with 273 points. Northfield Mount Hermon (B) placed sixth (207). Eaglebrook was eighth (42 points).

Time provided is combined for both slalom runs. Cecelia Cramer finished first overall (82.41) for Deerfield Academy (A). Wylie Benedetti was second (82.69) for Northfield Mount Hermon (A). In third (82.81) was Ellie Pinkham of Northfield Mount Hermon (A). Rowan Skinner of Deerfield Academy (A) took fourth (84.12). Lydie Pinkham of Northfield Mount Hermon was fifth (86.42).

On the boys side, Northfield Mount Hermon (A) topped the team standings with 337 points. In second was Deerfield Academy (A) with 251 points. Northfield Mount Hermon (B) was third with 240 points. Deerfield Academy (B) placed eighth with 155 points.

Cody Vassar of Northfield Mount Hermon (A) topped the individual standings with a combined run of 76.36. Teammate Sam Rotemund placed second (78.85). Porter Beaule of Northfield Mount Hermon was third (79.64). Jackson Stram took fourth (79.65) for Deerfield Academy (A). In fifth (81.11) was Ying Kay Leung of Northfield Mount Hermon (A).

Knights of Columbus Hoop Shoot

The annual Greenfield Knights of Columbus Hoop Shoot will be held on Saturday (Jan. 17) at Franklin Countyโ€™s YMCA in Greenfield. 

The event is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. The hoop shoot is open to all boys and girls ages 9-14 who live in Franklin County. For more information, contact Lou Grader (413-774-2848).
