David R. Damon

Conway, MA – David R. Damon, age 74, previously of Narragansett, RI, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Linda Manor Extended Care Facility in Northampton, MA following a prolonged illness with Parkinson’s Disease.

Born on March 11, 1951, in Wellesley, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Virginia (Anderson) Damon. David was educated in Wellesley before enlisting in the United States Army, where he served honorably. He utilized his culinary training from the Culinary Institute of America to feed his fellow service men and women well. Upon completing his military service, he pursued further education, first at Framingham State University, then many years later at Salve Regina College, earning a master’s degree in Holistic Counseling. He was employed at the Justice Resource Institute, where he delivered outpatient therapy services to individuals presenting with a range of disorders. While the role was demanding, he remained committed to making a positive impact on his clients’ lives.

David always loved to cook for his family and friends. He enjoyed nature walks, beachcombing, biking and kayaking, creating art using natural materials, and gardening. Above all, he valued spending time with his family.

After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2010, David dedicated himself to raising awareness about the condition and actively supported others in their efforts to improve their quality of life. He became passionate about maintaining his mobility and joined the West Bay YMCA. His Rock Steady boxing and Zumba communities were deeply important to him. He even earned certification as a Zumba Gold Instructor.

After losing his cherished wife, Linda in 2016, he moved to western Massachusetts to be near his daughter, Heather Damon of Conway. He is survived by his daughter, his sister, Marilyn Garlick of North Port, FL, and nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Linda Radin-Damon, of Narragansett, and his sisters, Beth and Carolyn.

David will be remembered fondly for his terrific sense of humor, gentle kindness, and for being a wonderful father.
