Southington, CT – Ronald Joseph Gignac, 84, of Southington CT, passed away on October 22, 2025 after a long battle with cancer.
Ron was born on August 1, 1941, in the Town of Montague, MA where he grew up. He was the son of the late Alexander and Frances (Dubrieul) Gignac. Ron graduated in 1959 from Turners Falls High School. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Springfield College graduating in 1963 and then went on to earn a master’s degree at University of Hartford. He had a long and successful 34-year career as a teacher at New Britain Public Schools. In addition to teaching, he took great pride in being a Pulaski High School Football Coach for many years. He was an avid sports fan of the NY Giants, NY Yankees and the UConn Huskie teams. Most importantly Ron will be remembered by his children for the summer trips to the Cape and pool parties at his home in Southington.
Ron will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by his children and their spouses, Gayle (David) Farrick of South Deerfield, MA, Karin McMahon (Mike Steel) of Lecanto, FL, Lisa (Leo) Silva of Hebron, CT; grandchildren Dylan, Megan, Morgan, Lauren, Chance, Carly, Jacob, and Luke; a brother-in-law Raymond Brule of Montague; nephews Gary and James Brule, niece Buffy Donivan, and his former wife Carolyn (Taylor) Garbiel.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Barbara Brule.
