Shelburne Falls, MA – Eric Dalton Temple, 89, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025.
He was born on July 14, 1936, to Daisy (Coburn) and Harold Temple.
A lifelong resident of Franklin County, Eric dedicated his life to public service in the towns of Bernardston, Greenfield, Buckland and Shelburne Falls. Over the years, he served as police officer, EMT, fire chief, custodian, bus driver, and operator of sewer treatment facilities-always working with pride and compassion.
Eric was also known as the donut maker and co-owner of the Foxtowne Coffee Shop, where his friendly smile and early morning donuts became a beloved local tradition. He cherished the friendships he made at the Shelburne Falls Senior Center and through his church community.
He is survived by his daughters, Heidi Temple and Leisha Eaton, stepchildren, Michael, Michele, and Melissa Elie, sisters Valerie Snow and Janice Corliss, six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his former first wife, Marlene (Miller) and his second wife, Pat Elie.
He will be remembered for his timeless work ethic, quiet strength, and lifelong dedication to community. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched through service and friendship.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shelburne Falls Fire and Rescue or the Shelburne Falls Senior Center in his memory.
There will be no calling hours.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
