Orange water main to be shut off temporarily
ORANGE — The first step of the Sewer Department’s major emergency repair on East Main Street will result in having to shut off the water main to relocate a portion of it that is impeding the repair.
This work is tentatively scheduled to happen in the early morning of Wednesday, Oct. 15. According to Water Superintendent Kenneth Wysk, shutting off the water main is necessary to make the connections to move the water system piping. It will directly impact some Orange Water Department customers in the immediate area of the East Main Street and Water Street intersection.
Customers from 1 to 30 East Main St. and from 1 to 11 South Main St. will be without water for a portion of the day, as notified with a blue notice on their doors. The short timeframe for the notification is reportedly due to the contractor’s scheduling needs.
With questions, Wysk can be reached at watersuper@townoforange.org or 978-544-1115 between 6:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
