WARWICK — Local professional and amateur artists alike will have a chance to display their creations at the 26th annual Warwick Arts Council Art Show and Sale.

The show, which does not charge admission, will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Warwick Town Hall.

According to Arts Council member Tom Wyatt, who has been involved in planning the show for 15 years, council members simply wanted to provide artists with a place to share their work with other local residents. The event also provides a social gathering that allows residents to learn about each other.

“The thing that’s most exciting for me is seeing what people do,” Wyatt said. “It might be somebody on the fire department or the police department, a painter or a sculptor, or young kids. … It’s those kind of surprises and learning about each other that makes it a special show.”

Artists of all ages can participate and submit up to three art pieces. A variety of media will be shown including paintings, photographs, poetry, ceramics, collage, quilts, literature, watercolors, puppetry, furniture, monotypes, jewelry, drawings, fiber art, wood carvings and sculptures.

“The variety of what people do is startling,” Wyatt said. He added that more than 30 artists from Warwick, Wendell, Orange, Northfield, Athol and Royalston participate each year.

In addition to the show, there will also be a “Meet the Artists” reception Friday at 7 p.m. and — a new feature this year — a “Vive la France!” dinner Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. also in Town Hall.

The dinner menu includes French onion soup, caramelized onion quiche, smoked macaroni and cheese, salad and pear brioche pudding. Quiche and salad or macaroni and cheese and salad is $10; soup and salad is $6; pear brioche pudding for dessert is $4. The dinner is being catered by Joyful Productions and proceeds will benefit the Warwick Arts Council.
