TURNERS FALLS — A woman was transported to the hospital Tuesday morning after her truck was hit by another vehicle at the intersection of Avenue A and Third Street, causing it to strike a building.
Captain Michael Currie of the Turners Falls Fire Department said the crash happened just before 8 a.m. and closed Avenue A between Fourth and Third streets for about an hour. He said the woman was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, but did not know the extent of her injuries.
According to Currie, both vehicles were traveling on Third Street at the time of the crash. He said the truck that struck the building was turning left onto Avenue A when it was hit by the other vehicle, forcing it into the building next to Pipione’s Sport Shop, which sustained minor damage.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
Information about whether either driver was cited in the crash was not available Tuesday evening.
The Montague Police Department, Turners Falls Fire Department and MedCare Ambulance responded to the scene.
