ORANGE — The victims of Saturday’s fatal house fire were two girls, aged 6 and 8, according to the Northwest District Attorney’s Office.
“Although the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has not officially identified the victims, they are presumed to be Leena Shea Ciolino, born May, 30, 2009, and Victoria Rose Gaignard, born Aug., 10, 2007, both of Orange,” the DA said in a brief statement late today.
Smoke billowed from the roof and windows of the single-family home at 34 Mechanic St as firefighters from about nine area fire departments battled the flames in the late afternoon.
Information about the cause of the fire was still not available late today.
Three others did escape from the house.
Thick smoke billowed from the second-story windows of the yellow building for hours after the 4:42 p.m. initial emergency call was placed.
