The letter “State Legislature lacks fiscal accountability” published Sept. 21 is so full of opinions based on lies and inaccuracies that I believe the Recorder has a responsibility to publish a response.
The writer states that the state Legislature proposed Question 1 when in fact the sponsor is Fair Share Massachusetts. The writer then goes on some crazed analysis that Question 1 is based on class warfare and racism! His reverence for the flat tax ( where rich and poor pay the same percentage, why don’t we just bring back serfs and indentured workers) and his defense of the wealthy one percent indicate that he has drunk the Kool-Aid of the wealthy. Why are Robert Kraft, Jim Davis (New Balance) and John Fish (Suffolk Construction) and others donating $1 million dollars each to defeat this question? Seems to me they are all extremely rich guys who don’t pay enough in taxes, Kraft paid that much to get out of Massage Gate in Florida in legal fees. Wealthy interests easily find people waiting to be duped using all kinds lies to come to their aid to defeat sound propositions that help the 99% .
