ORANGE — The 20-year tradition of the Starry Starry Night New Year’s Eve celebration in Orange will end if new volunteers are not recruited to replace committee members stepping down after two decades of service. To ensure the celebration continues, the Orange Revitalization Partnership (ORP) plans to host an informational meeting this Thursday at 7 p.m., in the foyer of the Orange Town Hall Auditorium.
“The event needs new blood and a new vision if it’s to continue,” said Manuel King, current co-chairman and founder of the event. “I know that there are plenty of good folks in the area who want to give back to their community, and Starry Starry Night is an awesome way to do that. I urge everyone to come out this Thursday night and find out what part they can play in taking this free community-wide celebration of the performing arts into the future.”
If not enough interest is shown by community members in continuing the event, Starry Starry Night will cease operation, pending an August vote by the ORP board. Folks who cannot make the Thursday meeting, but are interested in joining the committee can contact ORP Vice president, Crystal Parent at: crystalparent34@gmail.com
