WARWICK — Residents wanting to know more about an upcoming Annual Town Meeting vote to withdraw from the Pioneer Valley Regional School District can tune in to a virtual meeting of the Selectboard, Finance Committee and two education advisory committees on Thursday.

The meeting will be held using Zoom at 6:30 p.m., and can be accessed at bit.ly/2CE3vsQ. For voice only, dial 929-205-6099. The access code is 544 994 8034.

“We’ll have an opening statement and, assuming people show up, we’ll let them ask questions and see what we can do to answer them in a clear and concise manner,” Adam Holloway, chair of the Warwick Education Committee, said of the Thursday meeting.

Members of the Warwick Education Committee and Warwick Education Advisory Committee met with members of the Selectboard on Tuesday to discuss continued efforts to establish a homeschooling collective at the Warwick Community School building as they seek options for education outside of the Pioneer school district. Those options include joining a new school district or forming their own model for education in town.

Members also discussed Article 19 on Saturday’s Annual Town Meeting warrant, which asks residents to vote on the town withdrawing from the Pioneer school district “as expeditiously as possible.” Town Meeting will start at 1 p.m. on the town common.

Selectboard Chair Lawrence “Doc” Pruyne said Selectboard members will speak on their reasoning for the recommendation at Annual Town Meeting as well.

“There’s just a hint of the irritation we often feel thinking about the district, but I feel that’s just appropriate,” Pruyne said while reviewing documents outlining the reasoning for the proposed withdrawal at Tuesday’s meeting.
