HEATH — In response to an article about how the four-year closing of the Heath Road bridge affects Mohawk’s budget, Mohawk Trail Regional School District facilities coordinator Robin Pease reported the cost to run a smaller, “feeder” school van through the detour last year was $46,455. This was to transport 15 students a day to Mohawk and the elementary school. This was not received in time for the article that ran in Thursday’s Recorder.
COLRAIN — The town’s new Hilltown Farmers Market opens again on Sunday, July 15, from noon to 4 p.m. with more than a dozen vendors on board, jazz music with Kevin Jones, and prepared picnic foods from Jesse Berry’s Ride ‘N Dine!
Located at Lefty’s Garden farm stand at Greenfield and Coombs Hill roads, this seasonal market features several local farms and home producers, as well as artisans and others, who offer up eggs, beef, pork, lamb, maple products, produce and flowers, herbal soaps and scrubs, green-living & fiber products, children’s items, cards, lamps and outdoor lights, handcrafted knives and much more.
Neighboring farms participating through the season include Sweet Morning Farm (Leyden), Winterberry Farm (Colrain), Freeman Farm (Heath), Good Bunch Farm (Ashfield), K&L Organic Growers (Colrain), Country Maple Farms (Shelburne), and Orchard Valley Farm (Leyden). Each market features music, prepared food and other surprises. Additional market dates are Aug. 19, Sept. 16 and Oct. 21.

SHELBURNE — Footlights at the Falls is looking for help on its set and sound for its September production of “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder.
The play will also need ushers.
Performances are Sept. 14, 15, 16, 21 and 22 at Memorial Hall, in the second-floor theater upstairs from the town offices.
The theater group is in its third year producing plays for the hall. Plays have included “Dixie Swim Club” and “Later Life.” This year’s production of the American classic “Our Town,” about a small, New Hampshire town in the early 1900s, is in tribute to the 250th anniversary of the town’s founding.
