GREENFIELD — Although it isn’t pothole season anymore, other issues regularly pop up in the city.

And for those issues city officials are urging residents to use Greenfield 311, also known as “SeeClickFix,” more frequently.

The website and smartphone app allows residents and visitors to report nonemergency issues and complaints in Greenfield, from uneven or damaged sidewalks to issues with parking meters and crosswalks.

Both iPhone and Android users can download the app, which can be found by searching for “SeeClickFix” or “Commonwealth Connect” in the Google Play Store or the App Store. If you do not have a smartphone or the app, the Greenfield city website has a “Greenfield 311” tab under its rotating series of events and updates on its main page.

Users of either the website or the smartphone app can report issues with locations, pictures and descriptions. People can report problems using their name, or anonymously.

Users can see what other people have reported and are provided with updates on the status of the problems, including whether they have been acknowledged or solved.

The app also notifies users if issues nearby have been reported.

City Communications and Constituent Services Coordinator Lindsay Rowe said having the complaints reported on the app and website helps officials “by recording them all in one system” and that it gives them more information on what the problems are because of the pictures and descriptions.

“We’re trying to get all compliance issues to a central spot,” City Engineer Nicolas Reitzel said, adding that city officials listen to and attempt to respond to every complaint they receive.

This also helps officials send the problems that need addressing to the proper departments, such as the Department of Public Works, parking or the mayor’s office.
