BOSTON — Four women from Franklin County are among those tapped to sit as commissioners on the Hampshire-Franklin Commission on the Status of Women and Girls.

The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women made the announcement about the appointments in a press release Wednesday.

Keleigh Pereira of Turners Falls, Marcia Plant Jackson of Leverett, Anais Surkin of Greenfield, and Francia Wisnewski of Montague were among the women named to the Hampshire-Franklin group. They will be sworn in at the inauguration at the South Hadley Public Library on April 25.

The commission is charged with conducting an ongoing study of matters concerning women within their respective counties. The commission is mandated to report findings to the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women annually and to recommend solutions to the challenges facing the women and girls of the region.
