Youth ice fishing derby this Saturday

CONWAY — Aspiring young ice fishing enthusiasts will have a chance to test their skill in competition this weekend.

On Saturday starting at 1 p.m., Conway Sportsman’s Club will host a youth ice fishing derby at Conway’s swimming pool.

Old Deerfield Craft Fair on the horizon

DEERFIELD — Old Deerfield Craft Fairs is gearing up in preparation for its annual Spring Sampler.

Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association Director Timothy Neumann described the sampler as a “150-crafter indoor show (generating approximately $60,000 in booth rentals),” held in the Big E’s Young Building in West Springfield the first weekend of March.

Neumann said it draws between 4,000 and 5,000 adult visitors annually. Admission is $6.

Pancake breakfast at Shutesbury school

SHUTESBURY — Shutesbury Elementary School will host Shutesbury Firefighters Association’s annual pancake breakfast this weekend.

The breakfast event will start at 8 a.m., ending at 10:30 a.m., inside the school on West Pelham Road.

Tree donation account created

SOUTH DEERFIELD — The Selectboard voted to open a tree donation account for those interested in giving trees to the town.

Selectboard Chairwoman Carolyn Shores Ness said people can donate in someone’s name, noting the idea was suggested by local resident Kathy Melnick.
