ATHOL — A public showing of “Renewables Are Ready” will take place on March 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Millers River Environmental Center in town.
The slide show and presentation will be by Patricia Hynes, a former professor of Environmental Health and an Environmental Engineer. This presentation and talk will be followed with a discussion of what people can do in our communities and homes regarding energy use and renewables.
Sally Pick, a home energy consultant and former Solarize Montague organizer, will join Hynes to explain and answer questions about the pros and cons of owning a solar system versus leasing rooftops for PV solar systems, current incentives for solar, and a new low-cost Mass Solar Loan Program. She will also answer questions about strategies, incentives and zero-interest loans for making a home cozier and greener, with lower energy costs and carbon emissions. The public is invited to bring questions and concerns about renewable energy and efficiency programs along with ideas on how to work on these issues in our communities.
The slide presentation segment of this program was developed collaboratively with Traprock Center for Peace and Justice, American Frends Service Committee, and Nuclear and Carbon Free Future. Groups sponsoring this event include: Orange Town Energy Committee, Athol Bird and Nature Club, North Quabbin Energy, and Athol Town Energy Committee.
