Q: How is the Massachusetts Legislature’s record regarding fiscal matters?

A: In the crapper.

This leads us to Legislature’s latest scheme to raise taxes and further divide people. The class dividing, misleadingly named,” Fair Share” Amendment.

Q:How is the Massachusetts Legislature’s record regarding honesty, integrity, transparency?

A: In the crapper.

We’re led to believe the “hate the rich” amendment has language that specifies what the Legislature can do with money raised by it. To this the Legislature would reply: So what? The Mass. Legislature has a long history of ignoring voter mandates — and getting away with it. This is supposed to have a threshold that will increase with inflation. It’s almost funny anyone believes that won’t be ignored. The arrogance of a one-party system. Yea! Beacon Hill will do what it wants. Perks and payoffs have priority. The Mass. Legislature has been trying to get rid of the flat tax forever. Too transparent. Everyone knows what the tax rate is. This is the foot in the door. Once the flat tax is gone no one will know how many tax brackets there are and taxes will be raised at will. But for our own good. Of course. Back in the day if you were being guilted into supporting bad policy a common line was, “It’s for the children.” No more. Now it’s all about race. We’re told approximately 90% of millionaires are of the wrong race and as such deserve a special tax. This is handy. Class and race warfare. It helps create a bogeyman. A way for a corrupt legislature to divert attention away from itself.

The Mass. Legislature is going to look under any rock, every rock, to try to find some kind of way to prevent themselves from having to demonstrate any accountability. The Legislature and special interests would rather spend $100 million shoving this through than make any attempt to behave with restraint or dignity.
