As the executive director of the New England Chapter of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA NE), I was very disappointed in reading the quote by Attorney Frank DiPrima, concerning the ruling given by the DOJ in regards to discrimination against Mason Wicks-Lim and his friend by the Young Shakespeare Players East (“Young Shakespeare Players’ Lawyer Disputes DOJ Findings” June 17). The decision was not a “regulation run amok and a profound injustice.” I find it to be a clear case of discrimination and wholeheartedly agree with the DOJ’s decision.
I congratulate the two children for having the courage to stand up for themselves and advocate for all individuals with food allergies who deserve to be included in all activities. The AAFA NE staff advises, supports and advocates for people living with allergic diseases. We are proud of Mason and his friend for bringing awareness to food allergies and voicing their concerns. Bravo!
