COLRAIN — The former Methodist Church at 4 Main Road, which was converted into the Green Emporium restaurant in the 1990s, has a new owner.
The building now belongs to Denis F. Bordeaux of Greenfield, according to the Franklin County Registry of Deeds. Bordeaux is also the owner of the 3 Main Road property known as “the Blue Block.”
According to the deed, Bordeaux bought the former restaurant from Charles Collins of New York for $35,000. Bordeaux could not be reached for comment by telephone regarding his plans for either property.
Bordeaux purchased the vacant Blue Block in 2015, saving it from demolition. But two years later, the unoccupied Blue Block complex was badly damaged by a dump truck in a fatal collision. It has been fenced off since last August.
The former church once housed the Colrain Historical Society, before the Pitt House became its headquarters. It was purchased by chef Michael Collins and Pacifico Palumbo in 1992 and opened as a restaurant in 1994. The restaurant closed for awhile, then reopened as Mike and Tony’s Pizzeria in 2008, closing again in 2012.
The building has been for sale and empty since then.
