GREENFIELD — People planning on marching for Jesus will have to put it off a few more weeks.
The March for Jesus, scheduled for today, May 19, has been delayed until June 2, due to rain, according to organizer and City Councilor Verne Sund.
The eight-tenths-of-a-mile walk will commence at 11 a.m. from the Greenfield Middle School at 195 Federal St., and end at Energy Park at 50 Miles St.
Sund said he is looking forward to the interdenominational event, which he hopes will bring people of different backgrounds together during a divisive time for the country. However, the event can wait if it means no one catches a cold and no police get wet, he said.
Hot dogs will be served after the march, offering a good chance for people to relax together, Sund said.
“This shows we care about everybody, not just one person or one group and shows everyone is wanted,” Sund said.
The event is sponsored by Living Waters Assembly of God in Greenfield.
