GREENFIELD — Stephen Nestanpower, the former Discovery School at Four Corners substitute teacher who allegedly hit a third-grade student, then picked him up and placed him in a trash can has been arraigned and released on personal recognizance, provided he have no contact with the alleged victim.
Nestanpower, 71, of 10 Dewey St. in Bernardston, was arraigned last week in Greenfield District Court on three charges of assault and battery after he initially failed to appear before a judge on April 15.
He was released on the condition that he have no contact with his alleged victim, whose identity has been redacted in court documents, stay at least 100 yards away from him and stay away from his residence.
A friend of Nestanpower’s, reached by phone at his listed residence on April 15, told The Recorder that Nestanpower was out of town that day.
Nestanpower is due back in court on May 23 for a pretrial conference.
