In regards to Chris Collins article on March 25, concerning the Greenfield Town Council held on March 24, and the building of a new Senior Center:
It is extremely disrespectful to write “old ladies” in walkers sliding up to the microphone to speak. This “sweet lady” came to a night meeting, to speak from her heart, just what the Senior Center means to her.
We have members ages 55 to 98, none of which are referred to as “old ladies.” Members like her inspire us.
Secondly, our current approximate membership is 1,500, not 600 as you stated. We also expect this number could double with a new safe building. We presently have over 4,000 senior citizens in Greenfield.
Our fitness classes include Aerobics, Zumba, Bones and Balance, and Fit and Fabulous, to name a few. Taking these types of classes makes us healthier and feel younger!
We also offer programs and services such as Book Chat, Computer Lab, Bridge, Crafty Seniors, Cribbage, Creative Coloring, “Seniority” Dance Group, Foot Care by Nurses, Ask the Lawyer, Day Trips and many more.
I also want to say that the camaraderie and new friendships are awesome!
