I enjoyed the article by David Rainville describing the idyllic setting along Green River Road, including “bareass beach.” I do find it ironic that the users of this swimming area are so respectful of the river, yet so disrespectful of those who use the road for other recreational activities such as walking, biking and running.

The users of this area park, on both sides of a narrow road on a curve, cause a serious traffic problem. Last summer the road was blocked — the police had to be called and cars had to be towed.

What if emergency vehicles were unable to get by? Mr. Rainville should visit this area on a hot summer day after 3 p.m. I have traveled this road for years and have been sworn at, had the road blocked by users of this area chatting with each other instead of moving out of the way, and have met other vehicles coming around the curve only to see who would be backing up to let the other pass safely.

I understand that this area is peaceful and private. I am not suggesting this be off limits, I am concerned that someone is going to be hurt or killed because of the parking issues. It will happen, it’s only a matter of time.
