Absentee ballots for Shelburne

SHELBURNE — Absentee ballots are now available at the town clerk’s office during normal business hours of Monday and Tuesday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the exceptions of May 1 and 4, when the office will be closed. The office is located in Memorial Hall in Shelburne Falls, at 51 Bridge St.

The deadline to vote by absentee ballot will be on Friday, May 12, from 10 a.m. until noon. Town elections are Monday, May 15, at Memorial Hall from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Voter registration deadline nears

CHARLEMONT — The last day to register to vote to participate in the town’s annual election and town meeting is Wednesday, May 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m.

Charlemont’s annual town election and meeting is May 23. Elections are from noon to 7 p.m. and town meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. All will be held at the Hawlemont Elementary School.

Service day at Academy

CHARLEMONT — The Academy at Charlemont holds its annual Community Service Day on Tuesday, May 2. Students, faculty and staff members will spend the entire day working in area towns.

In Charlemont, groups will be clearing bike and hiking trails, cataloging books at the Tyler Memorial Library and transcribing at the Historical Society.

In Shelburne Falls, academy teams will be working on the Bridge of Flowers, at Arms Library, and at the Buckland Recreation Area, as well as doing spring yard work for nine seniors through the Senior Center.

They’ll be in Greenfield, working at the Energy Park and at the Green River Recreation Area, and in Brattleboro at the I.N.S.P.I.R.E. School for Autism.

Town meeting forum in Hawley

HAWLEY — The Selectboard and Finance Committee will hold an informational meeting on Tuesday, May 2, from 6:30 to 7:15, to review the annual town meeting warrant and answer questions. The annual town meeting is on May 8, starting at 7 p.m.
