Orange, Oct. 3

4:45 p.m. — Following an investigation two individuals were placed under arrest and both were taken to the station for booking; arrested were Brittany E. Smith, 27, of Chase Road, Athol, charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, and Joshua A. Hart, 23, of Chestnut Hill Road, Athol, charged with being an accessory after the fact.

7:30 p.m. — Reporting person came to the station to report she left her double baby stroller at the bus stop on Water Street earlier today when she took the bus to Greenfield, and when she returned, it was gone; it was black and purple in color, and she stated if it was to be found, to contact her.

8:50 p.m. — A 911 caller from New Athol Road reports a bear near a dumpster; officer spoke to the homeowner, who wanted her children educated on what to do if they see the bear while playing in the woods; services rendered.

Greenfield, Oct. 4

10:21 a.m. — Larceny reported from the Greenfield Community Television Inc., studio on Main Street where the caller says a TV has been taken from the property; and taken from the lobby was a 2-by-3-foot painting of trees, and they identified the painter, and the painting is valued at $200; taken sometime last Friday.

11:49 a.m. — Welfare check requested for a person at Forbes Court as there was no answer at the door when Meals on Wheels tried to deliver; office made entry to the apartment with maintenance personnel, and the male was found passed out in bed, snoring; services rendered.

2:16 p.m. — Larceny reported at Stop & Shop on French King Highway where the caller reports theft of an iPad, and it is being tracked via the cell phone; report issued.

3:45 p.m. — Despondent person reported on Washington Street where the caller is reporting a male with pain related to catheter, and the call was transferred to Medcare, requested also by an officer for male making suicidal statements. Services rendered.

5:08 p.m. — Accident reported in area of Magpie on Bank Row, called in as a minor two-vehicle accident, but believes the operator of the black Jeep is intoxicated; the Jeep rear-ended a Taurus, but no damage noted; both people didn’t want to pursue anything.

5:32 p.m. — Caller from Meridian Street reports there is a van and several people at the home of the recent structure fire, and they appear to be loading items into the van; officer found them to be family members.

7:52 p.m. — The reporting person with her nephew reports his backpack/bag was stolen from the football field today during practice, along with several others; inside were his school things, books, binder, etc., along with his iPod and ear buds, and a Beats pill. Report issued.

7:53 p.m. — Accident at Allen and Conway streets, two vehicles involved, one had to be towed; operator of one vehicle was cited, and is being summoned for operating after suspension and failure to use care when stopping.

8:54 p.m. — Welfare check requested on a man down on Federal Street near the middle school, and laying on a sidewalk/grass area next to a bicycle; when the caller drove by to check on him, he didn’t move at all. Police officer advising the male was taking a nap; all other units canceled. He was taking a break on the grass.

11:35 p.m. — Despondent person reported on High Street in a blue Honda Civic and going to the Baystate Franklin Medical Center parking lot, and the caller says the female called him and stated she took a whole bottle of sleeping pills; officer then reports he is out with the female at the hospital and requests hospital security and nurses, to the parking area; services rendered.

Montague Oct. 4

8:20 a.m. — Caller reports four horses loose on Turners Falls Road; contacted the ACO who advised he copied transmissions directly and is en route; officer advised the horses are behind Robin Crest Stables at this time, and confirmed they belonged at that location, someone in the area advised the horses have been loose for the past three days; with assistance of good Samaritans, the horses were corralled for now; a couple of people are en route to repair the fence, and a cousin of the owner is going to remain there until they arrive.

10:50 a.m. — Officer was flagged down about a branch in the road at Turners Falls Road and Hatchery Road; officer checked and found the branch had already been moved out of the road.

3:08 p.m. — Accident at Masonic Avenue and Montague City Road; the caller reports two vehicles involved, but no injuries as far as she can tell; officer took the report.

8:16 p.m. — When officers were on a domestic call at a Turners Falls Road location, and an assisting officer found two unsecured firearms, that are registered to one of the people involved. Services rendered.
