HAWLEY — When Annual Town Meeting adjourned on May 9, the town did not have several articles it needed from the Mohawk Trail Regional School District. Hawley will now hold a Special Town Meeting regarding a series of school proposals.

Special Town Meeting will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at the Town Office. Residents are advised to bring a chair.

Article 2 on the warrant, if passed, would allow Hawlemont Regional School District to purchase a new boiler. The article states the cost will not exceed $66,700, and the town of Hawley will pay 21% of the cost, or no more than $14,007.

Article 1 would allow the Mohawk Trail Regional School District to borrow up to $278,400 to pay for construction work on the exterior of Colrain Central School. Articles 3 to 5 all pertain to Heath’s arrangement to send its students to Colrain Central School, rather than Hawlemont Regional School.

“I think this will be a brief meeting,” said acting Administrative Assistant Tinky Weisblat, “but you never know what the town will discuss.”
