MILLERS FALLS — The state Department of Fire Services and Turners Falls Fire Department are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out early Friday morning on South Prospect Street.
Jake Wark, public information officer with the state Department of Fire Services, said two people were inside at the time the fire broke out at 64 South Prospect St.
“They escaped safely … without injury,” he said.
Wark said investigators believe the fire began on the first floor, toward the left rear of the building. The cause, however, is under investigation.
According to a post on the Turners Falls Fire Department’s Facebook page, the fire was under control as of 2:50 a.m.
