Brooklyn , NY – Diane Louise (Estabrooks) Tilden, 67, of Brooklyn, NY, died on February 20, 2026, of complications from a brain tumor.
She was born on January 27, 1959, in Athol, Massachusetts, and began life on her family’s farm in North Orange, the daughter of Samuel and Helen (Reed) Estabrooks. Growing up on the farm shaped her love of nature, community, and simple joys. As a child she delighted in square dancing, camping, and skiing.
Diane graduated from Mahar Regional High School in 1977 and went on to earn a degree in dental hygiene from the University of Bridgeport. After graduation, she moved to New York City to pursue her profession, building a career defined by skill, compassion, and deep care for her patients. In midlife she expanded her commitment to healing by becoming a certified massage therapist, reflecting her deepening interest in holistic well-being and her desire to support others with warmth and presence.
It was in New York City that she met her husband, Dennis Tilden, with whom she shared 28 years of marriage. Together they built a life grounded in mutual devotion and a shared dedication to family. Diane’s Buddhist practice became a central part of her life, guiding her through challenges and enriching her relationships. One of her greatest joys was traveling with Dennis and their daughter, Zoe, especially on their many trips to Mallorca, Spain.
Diane is survived by her husband, Dennis; their daughter, Zoe, and her partner, Eugene; and her beloved grandsons, Sasha and Theo. She also leaves behind her siblings Loretta Estabrooks (Jack Bonini), Donna Estabrooks, and Philip Estabrooks (Sharon); as well as her brother- and sister-in-law, Jordan and Brendel Tilden. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and is remembered with love by honorary sibling Laurie Hall.
She was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Samuel Estabrooks.
A memorial will be held on May 9 at the Brooklyn SGI Community Center in New York City to celebrate Diane’s life, spirit, and the many ways she touched those around her.
